‘Carnival success shows strong support for BN’

Barisan Nasional regaining people’s trust in Selangor, says Zahid

Karnival Sayangi Selangor UMNO vice-president  Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the ongoing success of the “Sayangi Selangor” carnival sends a clear signal that the people are coming around and supporting the Barisan Nasional.
He said the popularity of the campaign indicated that BN would be able to recapture the state in the coming general election.
Zahid, who is also defence minister,  cited an independent study by a research institute and commissioned by Pas which found dissatisfaction among the government officers under the state government.
He said the study also found that 73 per cent of civil servants in Selangor believed that the current state government had failed to deliver the development it had promised to the people.
Zahid added that 87 per cent of respondents in the survey believed that there were no positive changes brought about by the state
government.
“If we look back at the 12th general election, the people had made a decision for which which BN paid the price.
“They gave the opposition an opportunity   to become the government in Selangor as they wanted to see changes.
“They wanted to show their anger by translating it into rejecting BN during that time. In the end, what  happened is that they now regret their decision.”
Zahid said this after officiating the “Sayangi Selangor” carnival at I-city here yesterday.
Present were Deputy Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister Datuk Chua Tee Yong,  Selangor Umno Youth chief Ungku Md Salleh Ungku Jamal and Selangor Umno liaison chief Datuk Seri Zin Mohamed.
The four-day event, which began on Wednesday, is  expected to attract 500,000 visitors  and will culminate on Saturday when Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak will usher in the New Year celebrations with the people
